Crayon Hearts

I love how these wax paper and crayon hearts look in the window on this very snowy day.  Even though Charlotte was a little young to help with this project, she was very interested in what I was doing.  It makes a great Valentine's Day decoration that we can all admire!

 Here's how we made them:

1.  Peel the wrappers off your crayons - different shades of red and purple
2.  Run crayons through pencil sharpener to get shavings
3.  Turn iron on medium-low
4.  Cover ironing board with several sheets of newspaper
5.  Grab a large sheet of wax paper and fold it in half
6.  Reopen wax paper sheet and sprinkle crayon shavings on one half - fold back over when done
7.  Lay wax paper on ironing board and cover with several sheets of newspaper on top
8.  Run iron over wax paper until all the crayon has melted
9.  Allow wax paper to dry - a couple minutes will do
10.  Make hearts using cookie cutter or however you want and cut out
11.  Poke hole in the top of your heart, run a piece of yarn or thread, and hang in windows - I hung mine from my curtain rod
